About Me

Hi, I’m Suzanne and welcome to my blog. I’m a working mummy in charge of two small boys (three, if you count the grown-up one I married) and I’ve discovered the secret of parenthood…underneath, we’re all just winging it! Hurrah, who knew?!

Crumbs on the Carpet is a place where you can feel like we’re all in this parenting malarkey together. When your child is having a meltdown because you cut their sandwiches into squares instead of triangles, remember, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

The men in my life…

Me and StavThe Hub – my soul mate, my better-half, the one I can’t live without – these are just a few of the words he would use to describe me, I’m sure. We’ve been together since 2003 and married since 2007. Jokes aside, I really did marry my best friend and I can’t imagine my life without him. He’s an amazing father to our two boys and is also really great at cleaning the kitchen sink (which I seem to be incapable of doing, on the grounds that the ‘bits’ in the plughole are too disgusting).

Zach box croppedBig Monkey – at 5 years old, he embodies a lust for life that only a young child can. Everything he does is with great vigour and gusto (including the tantrums) and he has a wicked sense of humour. His sole purpose in life is to have fun. And be Spiderman. And a pirate. Oh, and a soldier. Not a day goes by where he isn’t dressing up as something or other. Everyday I’m left in awe and wonderment that I created this amazing little boy who can push my buttons and overwhelm me with love simultaneously.

ReubenLittle Monkey – at 2-and-a-half, he’s my angel baby, in more ways than one. I found out I was pregnant with him eight weeks after I lost my wonderful, amazing mum to cancer. I feel like he was a gift from her, even though she never got to meet him, and it makes me feel like a piece of her lives on. He is a happy-go-lucky, inquisitive little boy who loves to move about, sleeps like a dream and always has a smile on his face. Except when he’s teething. Then we’re in trouble.

He also has his own blog – Little Monkey Writes – which you can check out here.
