One of the best things about a three-year-old’s brain is the delightfully limitless imagination and pre-schooler logic that accompanies it. I often have fabulously bizarre conversations with Big Monkey (BM) and here is a transcript of our latest tête-à-tête over dinner:
Yesterday I attended the evening wedding reception of a childhood family friend and it was a beautiful day of firsts and familiars. Hubby stayed at home with the boys and mummy was officially off-duty for the night, with my dad as my date.
This morning, at the ungodly hour of 6.30am, both boys climbed into bed with me for sleepy snuggles and I took a photo of us, in all of our post-sleep, bed-hair glory. This then gave me the idea to keep snapping throughout the day and capture our beautiful-ordinary.

Sometimes…ok, a lot recently…I come home from work after a long day full of office politics, with a head full of endless to-do’s, aching feet and an overwhelming desire to lie down and have a little nap.
So parenting is all about teaching our children how to be responsible, kind and independent little people, right? Guiding them on life’s journey, equipping them with the tools to make the right decisions, to lead a happy and fulfilling life, blah, blah, blah…
